Description
This razor handle was handcrafted by Robert Quinn from Tasmanian Rose Myrtle Burl that grows in Victoria and Tasmania. This wood is prized for its interesting figure and variegated colors. The combinations include amber, pale pinkish brown, reddish brown & bright cherry red, with a mostly fine and uniform texture. Tasmanian Myrtle can be a large tree. It is actually a Beech tree with no obvious resemblance to the European Myrtle – the name Myrtle has stayed after long usage by foresters and bushwalkers. Rose Myrtle is used extensively in fine furniture making and by craftsmen to produce exclusive items. It is also sought after among guitar makers for its wide tonal range and warm overtones.
The orientation of the handle may also be set with the wider portion either at the tail or at the head, as shown on the Merkur 34C picture of the handle.
This razor handle is 3.25 inches long and weighs 1.4 ounces.
